This is a special note to the women in NRSD, and perhaps
women you know who feel called to ministry. This is a very encouraging letter
written to women in seminary from Kyle Roberts. Kyle Roberts is Assistant
Professor of Systematic Theology and Lead Faculty of Christian Thought, Bethel
Seminary (St. Paul, MN).
I wish he had been at Bethel Seminary while I
was there, it would have made things easier for me (and the other women there
of course).
Women, read this and take heart that God knows what he is
doing by calling you into leadership ministry places. God is also raising up men
who have the courage to confront the popular and strong viewpoint that wants to
“put we women in our place”. You are called by God, and he will defend you and
promote you!
Mark here. This is certainly an interesting and important issue. I think it would be good for us all to read the article posted whether we are male or female, and at some point look at the the different views on this issue. No doubt this is an issue close to a few of us, and to others, it may be something we haven't thought much about. Nonetheless, I think it is one that will definitely effect our style of ministry. I know this might not be good sooner than later, but maybe at some point in this 2 years school process, we could have a bit of an open forum on this? If this is truly a safe place where we can explore God's calling on our lives, we should be able to talk openly about a hot topic such as this (and even disagree in love should that happen). Just a few thoughts I figured I'd spew out. Love you all (even if I haven't met you yet). Excited to see you this weekend!
